Uuring: leetrid sandistavad laste immuunsüsteemi pikemaks ajaks

Leetritesse haigestumine kasvatab märkimisväärselt laste riski nakatuda juba kord läbipõetud viirustest ja bakteritest põhjustatud haigustesse, selgub 77 vaktsineerimata lapse immuunsüsteemi enne ja pärast nakatumist uurinud teadlaste tööst.

 

Seost leetritesse nakatumise ja immuunsüsteemi nõrgenemise vahel kahtlustati juba kümneid aastaid. Enne 1963. aastal alanud vaktsineerimisprogramme haigestus neisse peaaegu iga laps. Leetritesse suri neist igal aastal ligikaudu 2,6 miljonit. Tõhusa vaktsiini toel ei vähenenud pelgalt leetrijuhtude arv.
